You'd expect there to be plenty beaches around a place referred to as the Lakes Region, and we don't disappoint! We probably don't need to tell you about Weirs Beach, but there are several other beaches in the Lakes Region. If the perfect one in your eyes is a little quieter and slower paced, then the atmosphere surrounding Weirs Beach may be too busy for you.  This section of the site will help you locate quieter spots to take a refreshing dip.

Weirs Beach
Map of Location

Hands down the most popular and well known beach in the Lakes Region, Weirs Beach is a wide and long, sandy, and very clean beach. Water toward the north end of the beach, near the boardwalk, is very shallow out to a great distance allowing water games to be played with ease and making it ideal for young children. The beach features on site dressing rooms, rest rooms, a playground with swings, and a nice picnic area. Weirs beach is located on Lakeside Avenue off Route 3. There is a fee for parking, five dollars as of the time of this writing. You can also park along Lakeside Ave, where there are parking meters. Fee's are always annoying, but pay them gladly, for they are the reason the beach is so well kept.

Ellacoya State Beach & Park
Map of Location

Ellacoya has a large campground area for RV's and, of course, a big and sandy six hundred foot long beach. It's location faces it looking northeast out over the broads, which makes it a nice breezy spot. There is often a breeze which keeps things comfortable, even on the hottest of days. This breeze can get a bit strong at times, so check the weather before heading out.  There are rest room facilities on site as well as an area for picnicking. Ellacoya is on route 11 in Gilford heading towards Alton. You can call 603-271-3628 to make a reservation for an RV space.

Opechee Park
